Statement Stripes

When a new customer reached out about transforming their lounge, they mentioned they had some ideas for a standout feature wall. I pictured wallpaper or perhaps a vibrant pop of colour.

My role is to really understand the reason why and what you want your room to look and feel like.

After chatting, it turns out, they had their heart set on a series of pink, grey, and white stripes spanning their expansive 7 metre wall. Simple in concept, but precision is key— there's no room for error.

At the heart of Copper Knobs is creating unique spaces and we love a challenge, so this was going to be exciting.

"Claire has created a real talking point in our living room. A rather sterile white box has now been transformed with our beautiful painted feature wall - we are very grateful."

I started by laying down the base coat before meticulously using a laser level and pencil to map out the tape placement. I wanted to make sure that the lines were perfect and knew exactly how to achieve it.

The trick to crisp lines? Painting over the tape edges with the background colour. This way, any paint bleed matches the background colour, and any gaps get filled in before applying the contrasting shades. When you apply the contrasting colour there is nowhere left for it to bleed.

It's a straightforward technique with striking results.

Preserving Joyful Memories

This customer entrusted me with a piece of furniture they wanted to breathe new life into. They handed me a rough sketch of the design they had in mind. It was a bit more intricate than any designs I'd tackled before, but armed with time, patience, a ruler, and a sharp knife, I was up for the challenge.

When they shared the story behind the pattern, I felt a rush of excitement. It was inspired by a railway bridge near their old home -  a wonderful reminder of the good times they had there. Learning about the sentiment behind the design made me even more eager to dive in. This project was more than just a makeover; it was about preserving precious moments in furniture form.

"Claire took a cabinet that looked completely out of place in our current home and painted it, updated the handles and added a motif that has meaning for us. It gives us joy every day when we look at it and really fits in with the wider room scheme now. Thanks!"
